Over the past 24 hours, several airlines have received fraudulent faxed demands for overdue payment for the year 2005/2006. The fax purports to come from NATS and threatens to suspend the airlines' rights to operate within airspace under UK control, i.e. the United Kingdom Flight Information Region and Shanwick Oceanic airspace.
The fax is headed "Your Account is on Hold", sent under the name of Pietro Ferrara, and gives a reference of: 4962664.
In the fax the airlines are asked to contact John Daniels, Accounts Payable, NATSNAV Ltd, 4000 Parkway, Whiteley, Hants PO 15 7FL, with a contact number of (+44) 20 3356 9606 or fax of (+44) 207 504 8322.
PLEASE NOTE THIS FAX IS NOT FROM NATS AND A POLICE INVESTIGATION IS UNDER WAY.
Anyone receiving this notice SHOULD NOT respond, but should alert their Accounts Payable team to check their position with the real NATS Accounts Receivable, whose contact details are as follows:
