History

  • 1975

In 1975 the management of the Philips Group, users of corporate aircraft, decided to create an association that would be capable of representing business aviation at all European institutions.

  • 1977

In March 1977, the next step was taken and Dr. Ir. F.J. Philips founded the International Business Aviation Association (Europe). It was set up in the Netherlands with twelve founding members.

  • 1984

In 1984, the association, recognising that Brussels was the strategic place to be, moved to Belgium and became known as the EBAA (European Business Aviation Association).

  • 1990-2006

After a period of stagnation throughout the 1990's, Business Aviation in Europe has been growing at over 5% annum, with a fleet of over 2500 aircraft now registered in Europe, a 25% increase on the fleet size since 2000.

From modest beginnings, EBAA now represents the interests in Europe of more than 300 Business Aviation Companies and a fleet of over 600 aircraft.

Since 1977, the Association, ably representing the legitimate concerns of an industry in steady expansion has become the leading Association for Business Aviation in Europe.
