BEWARE - SCAM Invoice on Behalf of EBACE
We were informed by one of our Members of a SCAM that targets participants of trade fairs, including EBACE, asking for payment, so the Company can be displayed in a trade publication.
This is not true!
An organisation which identify themselves as INTERNATIONAL FAIRS TRADE showing Financial Administration located in Lisbon, Portugal and published by MULPOR Company S.A. in Montevideo Uruguay, is currently sending out invoices and information forms to be filled out, to participants of various international conferences and expos, encouraging you to complete your company details for inclusion in a Fair Guide (www.inter-fairs.com).
Please note that MULPOR Company S.A. (publisher) and International Fairs Directory (aka Construct Data Publishers and Expo-Guide) are in NO WAY related to EBACE, EBAA nor any events that we may hold jointly or individually.
The following websites (a.o.), created to identify and provide information about fraudulent organizations, provide further details:
Although the Fraud Help-Desk mentions that these were Dutch Companies that were targeted, we know that many of our Members from various countries were approached by these unscrupulous parties.
Our advice is to IGNORE THEM COMPLETELY, and not communicate with them in any way. Writing letters simply confirms that you exist and are available at the address/email address/number they have for you, and therefore payment can be pursued.
- Report it to your local trading standard;
- DO NOT COMPLETE THIS FORM should one be mailed to you;
- DO NOT PAY ANYTHING;
- DO NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE SCAMMERS even when they threaten legal action.
- Optional: Complain to the receiving bank that their client Expo Guide (or equivalent), is obtaining money by deception.
These organisations have also been known to use debt recovery agencies, the same advice stands for these agencies.
