EBAA endorses joint statement by European Commission and European Parliament calling for closer collaboration amongst EU Member States and stakeholders.
On the threshold of the holiday season, the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) welcomes the joint statement by Violeta Bulc, EU Commissioner for Transport and Karima Delli, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism.
In the statement, both the European Parliament and European Commission call upon all institutional stakeholders to work closer together to help build a modern and efficient air traffic infrastructure in Europe. As the Business Aviation community struggles with equal access to the European airspace and airports – and air traffic is constantly growing – the EBAA welcomes the joint statement’s willingness and call to action to build a modern and efficient air traffic infrastructure.
Our industry acts as an enabler for regional and national economic development representing €87 billion in output, with a total workforce of some 374,000 (in)direct jobs. Business Aviation serves 25,280 city or area pairs not connected by nonstop commercial flights and 2017 saw more than 30 ambulance flights a day. Representing 7% of all movement, Business Aviation is a key user of European airspace.
As the EBAA represents more than 700 aircraft operators, ground services and business airports, we remain fully committed to working together and increasing our collaboration with the European institutions. Not only as part of our current engagement; such as our involvement in the SESAR program, the EBAA is looking forward to bring about the changes both Commissioner Bulc and Transport Committee Chair Delli mention and which the current airspace system desperately needs.
