Biography
After implementing the Biometric Matching System (BMS) for the Visa Information System (VIS), he worked on a variety of strategic ideas and concepts involving biometrics and identity management such as the Smart Borders initiative, the SIS AFIS, the Schengen Masterlist, EES and ETIAS and modernising and harmonising the European identity cards. He was the inventor of the Interoperability components ESP, sBMS, CIR and MID. He moved from border-management systems to law enforcement cooperation like PrumII, DNA matching, API/PNR, Private Flights. Richard has an academic and industry background in electronics, informatics and artificial intelligence.
