Biography
Since 2014, he has served as Programme Director for the International Standard for Business Aircraft Handling (IS-BAH™), having launched the programme that year to bring a comprehensive suite of voluntary safety management standards and recommended practices to the global business aviation community.
In this role, he has contributed extensively to the development of international ground handling standards. He is a member of the ICAO Ground Handling Task Force, supporting the development of global Standards and Recommended Practices and guidance material, including ICAO Doc 10121, the Manual on Ground Handling. He has also participated in the EASA Rulemaking Task Force RMT.0728, contributing to the development of the EU Ground Handling Regulation.
Prior to joining the IS-BAH™ Programme at IBAC, he worked for a major international trip support and flight services company as Manager, Ground Operations Standards & Development for Europe and North Africa. In this role, he was responsible for the coordination and supervision of ground logistics for ad-hoc business aviation flights, including Head of State operations, operating to and from the UK and other international destinations.
His earlier career includes serving as Manager, Ground Operations Standards & Development for Air Routing International / Rockwell Collins from 1996 to 2014, Manager of Operations & Charter Sales at MAGEC Aviation Ltd. from 1989 to 1996, and Flight Operations Officer at McAlpine Aviation Ltd. from 1984 to 1989.
Throughout his career, he has represented the business aviation sector at numerous high-level industry and regulatory meetings, including those related to planning for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He is a former Council member and Deputy Chairman of the British Business & General Aviation Association (BBGA), a former Chair of the EBAA Airport Handling and Ground Operations Committee, and a former Council member and Treasurer of the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC). He has also represented IBAC on the ICAO Facilitation Panel and the World Customs Organization API/PNR Contact Committee.
In recognition of his contribution to the industry, he received the British Business & General Aviation Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award in March 2015 and the Flight Safety Foundation’s Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award at the 66th Annual Business Aviation Safety Summit in 2021.
