JUNIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Representing more than 700 aircraft operators, ground services, business airports and the wider ecosystem around business aviation, the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) exists to enable responsible, sustainable growth for business aviation, enhancing connectivity and creating opportunities.

EBAA was founded in 1977 to defend the interests of business aviation and provides value to its members and society by promoting best practices in safety and environmental sustainability, efficient and proportionate rule-making and increased connectivity within Europe.

EBAA has a small team of international professionals based in our Brussels office, who support our European members. The position will be based in our beautiful offices but also requires some European travels.

As junior Communications Officer you will report to Róman Kok, the Communications Manager within the public affairs team of EBAA. As part of this team, you are responsible for helping develop and deliver excellent communications on EBAA’s work. As Communications Officer you will also coordinate closely with association’s policy experts.

Responsabilities

  • You support EBAA’s digital communications channels on a daily basis, developing and designing relevant and interesting content;
  • You manage EBAA’s weekly internal and external newsletters in a consistent andtimely manner;
  • Deliver on campaign and advocacy objectives, in collaboration with policy and communications colleagues, and where applicable project partners;
  • You monitor information relevant to EBAA’s priorities and network, and ensure its rapid dissemination;
  • You produce and support content preparation for various EBAA’s communications channels/purposes;
  • In coordination with the EBAA data department, you help with developing and implementing an effective strategy to enhance EBAA’s impact online, e.g. through web analytics reporting;
  • You ensure sure that EBAA’s databases and mailing lists are maintained and up to date in coordination with the membership team;
  • Draft press releases and other relevant materials for national and international media;
  • Coordinate new media inquiries by journalists and other stakeholders and report on EBAA’s press coverage;
  • Updating, maintaining and developing EBAA’s website;
  • Supporting EBAA’s events onsite throughout Europe

Skills and experience

  • Up to three years of experience;
  • A degree in a relevant field; such as Communications, Political Sciences and/or European Studies;
  • Competency in CMS (WordPress), Mailchimp, social media and other relevant communications tools;
  • Understanding of EU (transport) policies and decision-making processes is considered an asset;
  • Familiarity with Brussels-focused EU media landscape;
  • Ability to communicate persuasively and explain complex and technical information clearly and succinctly;
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team;
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with people from different cultures and backgrounds;
  • Native-level command of English required, other EU language(s) an asset;
  • Interest in, and a passion for, aviation is considered a plus;
  • Be excited about working to promote the interests of the European business aviation community.

Manager Sustainability and Future Workforce

YOUR ROLE

The growth of business aviation, its prospects in the mid-to-long term, and the fast-evolving air transport environment in Europe and beyond are all having a decisive impact on the workload of the Association and its Secretariat.

Reporting to the COO, the manager is expected to assume and drive the most important challenges for our industry: sustainability and future workforce. This new role is suitable for either experienced junior managers that are ready to make the next step, or experienced aviation managers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Have several specific files to look after including strategies on CO2 emissions: EU-ETS, Corsia, taxation, technology, biofuels, noise, workforce development, S.T.A.R.S., etc.
  • Report to the COO on questions related to sustainability files and projects; in particular, (s)he will be responsible to ensure that his/her dossiers are being driven appropriately and that goals and objectives are met;
  • Propose and, where appropriate, implement strategies or projects aimed at influencing European institutions, international aviation organizations and our members;
  • Help the EBAA in developing harmonized policies on environmental policies with international organizations like IBAC, ATAG, etc.
  • Play a coordination role with other aviation associations and trade bodies to establish, whenever feasible, a united front vis-à-vis natural recipients (governments, EU institutions, etc.), in Europe or internationally;
  • Provide periodic and comprehensive information to EBAA members on matters relevant to his/her portfolio;
  • Represent the Association on various platforms, both European and international. In particular, the manager will liaise with associations such as IBAC, NBAA, and a few other regional associations;
  • Supporting EBAA members on environmental issues as they arise;
  • Collaborate closely with the EBAA communications/marketing team to leverage the awareness of sustainability and workforce.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Have relevant professional experience in the aviation or environmental industry and understand the operational day-to-day challenges of our industry;
  • Have an excellent understanding of European air transport but more specifically the environmental challenges, opportunities and tools available;
  • Possess a good understanding of the functioning of the EU institutions, Eurocontrol and EASA;
  • Be a natural communicator, and feel at ease speaking in public;
  • Speak and write fluently English. French or German capabilities are considered an asset;
  • Be open-minded and able to travel worldwide;
  • This position could evolve into a senior manager level depending on the record and expertise of the successful candidate.

  • Propose and, where appropriate, implement strategies and projects aimed at influencing European institutions and international aviation organizations;
  • Play a coordination role with other aviation associations and trade bodies to establish, whenever feasible, a united front vis-à-vis natural recipients (governments, EU institutions, etc.), be it in Europe or internationally;
  • Provide periodic and comprehensive information to EBAA members on matters relevant to his/her portfolio;
