Strengthening the Voice of Business Aviation in Spain: SPBAA’s Renewed Momentum
The Spanish Business Aviation Association (SPBAA) has renewed its Board of Directors, appointing Olivier Poncet as President, to bolster its commitment to represent and grow the national business aviation sector. With around thirty member organizations, SPBAA aims to be the unified voice for the industry in Spain, prioritizing expanded membership and serving as a key interlocutor for aviation authorities to address sector challenges and contribute expertise.
The Spanish Business Aviation Association (SPBAA) is proud to announce the renewal of its Board of Directors, with Olivier Poncet (Aviation Pasiphae) appointed as President, José Luis García (AirworthyNext) as Vice President, and Javier Vélez (Redo Asesores) as Secretary General . This new leadership continues the path set by the founding team and reaffirms its commitment to represent and grow the Spanish business aviation sector.
Today, SPBAA gathers around thirty member organizations representing the full spectrum of the industry in Spain—from operators, FBOs and handling companies to legal, fiscal, MRO, and CAMO professionals. One of our top priorities for 2025 is to expand our member base and to ensure we are the unified voice of the industry in Spain.

Our objectives are clear:
- Serve as a reliable interlocutor for Spanish aviation authorities.
- Share our expertise and actively contribute to working groups addressing business aviation matters.
- Ensure authorities are aware of sector-specific challenges, particularly those that hinder growth or efficiency.
To that end, we’ve already held strategic meetings with the Secretary General for Air and Maritime Transport from Spanish Transport Ministry and the Director General of ENAIRE, Spanish air control body. Further discussions with AENA, DGAC, and AESA are scheduled in the coming weeks.
In parallel, we’re launching dedicated internal working groups within SPBAA to address key industry concerns such as ReFuelEU regulatory implementation, improving licensing and authorisation procedures, and tackling rising service costs. We are also exploring collaborations with other aviation-related associations to build stronger, shared advocacy efforts.
Despite the busy professional lives of our members, we remain actively engaged in the association’s initiatives. Recently, we hosted a business aviation breakfast attended by the Director General of AESA and over thirty companies, where we presented the sector’s latest results for 2024 and shared opinions on priorities of our industry.

Looking ahead, we are deep into the planning of our flagship annual event: the Spanish Business Aviation Event (SBAE 2025). Following the success of the last two editions, this year’s event promises to be even more ambitious—with a stunning new venue, an outdoor aircraft static display area, panels on market trends and regulatory issues unique to Spain, great advanced support from the aviation authorities and countless networking opportunities for key stakeholders to connect.
