The European Business aviation sector has recently encountered several legislative challenges from EU Member States. This article will analyse the latest Portuguese Carbon Tax and delve into EBAA national advocacy initiatives in the Netherlands and France.

The EBAA Ambassador Programme continues to strengthen in 2023 by adding 4 new Business aviation companies distinguishing themselves for being champions in sustainability.

The "Fit for 55" package is a set of proposals put forward by the European Commission in July 2021 to help member states of the European Union decarbonise the European economy.

So far, the 2020s have been an interesting time for European Business aviation. Following the uncertainty of COVID-19 and its impact on aviation as a whole, our industry hit new heights in July 2021, recording our busiest month ever with around 85,000 flights. This trend has continued into 2022, as commercial aviation has struggled to come to terms with rebounding demand of travellers.

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) has taken note of the current political mainstream that is calling for the regulation of private jet flights more thoroughly at the EU level. Most upsetting, are the unfortunate routes taken that includes notions of banning, or increasing taxation which could simply deter the entire industry from operating and developing sustainable technologies.
